DP4 Editor with four sources and Large Plate reverb controls.

DP4 Editor

Turn a knob on the DP/4 or on screen, and the other one follows.

The editor and the DP/4 stay in sync in both directions, one parameter at a time, so you never wait for a bank dump.

DP/4
Seamless bi-directional sync

The DP/4 was the first effects unit I owned, back when I was chasing the warm analog sound on old Daft Punk records. It is four effects units in one box from 1992, and its sounds have real character: the strange VanderPol Filter, grainy metallic reverbs that turn into great lo-fi reverbs once you cut the highs, and tremolos, phasers and flangers I do not hear anywhere else.

Like most gear from that era, it has a few small buttons and one line of text. I made this DP4 editor so you can see and edit all of it on one screen, in sync with the unit.

Four processors, one window

The DP/4 is four effects units in one box. The editor shows units A, B, C and D together, with the routing between them. Run four separate effects on four sources, or chain the units into one multi-effects path.

Every algorithm, including the hidden ones

The editor loads all 48 DP/4 effects on any unit, including ✨ Ring Modulator and Octave Divider ✨, two effects that no factory preset uses. They are there in every copy, one click away.

Load any algorithm on any unit: reverbs, delays, modulation, pitch, dynamics, EQ, amp and vocoder. Parameter names and ranges come from the DP/4 firmware, so they match the front panel.

1U, 2U, 4U and Config presets

A 1U preset loads one unit. A 2U preset loads a pair, A+B or C+D. A 4U preset loads all four units. A Config preset sets the sources and the routing: 1, 2, 3 or 4 sources. The editor shows which presets fit the unit and configuration you have.

A real librarian

Browse the ROM bank: 200 factory presets, 50 of each type. Read the RAM bank from your DP/4: 200 user slots. Save the edit buffer, the System settings, or the full RAM bank to your computer. Restore a backup to the DP/4 when you need it.

Also in the DP4 editor

  • Live editing
Each change goes out over SysEx and is read back. The standalone app also follows the front panel.
  • Safe banks
It backs up RAM and System before the first permanent write of each session, in approximately 16 seconds. You can also protect Config 1.
  • Scenes
Save the whole DP/4 state as a scene file, and open it later to see every unit, algorithm and parameter.

Getting started with the DP4 editor

  • Connect the DP/4’s MIDI IN and MIDI OUT to your computer’s MIDI interface.
  • In a DAW, route the plug-in’s MIDI output to the DP/4 and the DP/4’s MIDI back to the plug-in.
  • Some DAWs do not pass SysEx from plug-ins. If the unit does not respond, use the standalone app.
